Suya Game: Run a Suya Stall in Your Browser

Mai Suya is a game you play in the browser on a phone or a computer. You run a roadside suya stall in Lagos from 19:00 to 01:00, grill skewers over charcoal, flip each one in time and serve the queue.

What is a suya game?

A suya game is a cooking or stall-management game built around suya, the spiced grilled meat of Nigeria. You buy meat, work a charcoal grill, season each order and take the naira. Mai Suya is one you can open in any browser, with nothing to install.

The genre sits between a cooking game and a small business game. The grilling is a reflex skill: you watch the skewers and act at the right second. The business side is slower: you decide what to stock, which place to move to and what to upgrade between nights.

Mai Suya keeps both halves short. A night is a few minutes, so one more try always fits, and what you earn carries over to the next night.

How does a suya grill game play?

Each night runs from 19:00 to 01:00 stall time, squeezed into about 150 real seconds. You put skewers on the grill, set the fire, flip each skewer inside its short window, take it onto the plate, then hand it to the customer with the right toppings and wrap.

A night at the suya stall on a phone: order cards along the top, skewers on the grill, the heat buttons, the plate and the meat tray A night at the suya stall on a computer: order cards across the top, the grill in the middle, the heat buttons and the plate on the right
A night at the grill: orders on top, skewers cooking, ready ones on the plate.
The end-of-night summary: net profit, sales, tips, costs, served, walked away and the rating The end-of-night summary: net profit, sales, tips, costs, served, walked away and the rating
The summary at 01:00: what the night earned and what it cost.
  1. Stock up

Before the night you buy meat, yaji and other sides, and charcoal. Whatever you cannot cover at the market, you cannot sell.

  2. Grill on low, medium or high

Skewers cook on one side, need a flip, then cook on the other. The fire has three settings, and the setting decides how fast everything cooks.

  3. Flip in time

The flip window is short, about 4 seconds on medium. Miss it and the skewer goes straight to overdone, which sells for less; leave it longer and it burns.

  4. Serve the queue

Customers ask in naira, such as ₦1,000 of beef with extra pepper. You match the toppings, wrap it in newspaper or a box, and take the cash.

  5. Haggle and finish

Some customers haggle, and a good price can still be a good night. At closing time the summary shows what you earned and what you wasted.

What can you do in this suya simulator?

This suya simulator has nine meats, five places across Lagos, seven stall upgrades with five levels each, six kinds of night and seven cold drinks. Everything unlocks as your stall earns and your nights pile up, so the first night stays simple and the stall grows at its own pace.

The full prices and unlock nights are on the menu page, and the guide explains every rule.

What is suya, the food behind the game?

Suya is thin slices of meat on a stick, rubbed with yaji, a dry spice blend of ground peanuts and pepper, and grilled over charcoal. It is a Nigerian street food, often sold in the evening from roadside grills and commonly eaten with sliced onion and tomato.

The game borrows that picture: the glow of the coals, the paper wrap, the queue after dark. A separate page tells the story of the food itself, and the guide shows how the game turns it into rules.

Why is charcoal the hard part of a charcoal grill game?

Because the fire is the one thing you cannot buy once and forget. A bag lasts 3 hours of stall time at ₦300, high heat burns it faster, and the setting decides how fast meat cooks. Too low and customers wait; too high and skewers burn before you flip.

The three settings cook at ×0.6, ×1, ×1.4. On high the flip window shrinks from 4 seconds to 2.857142857142857 and the charcoal burns 1.5 times as fast, so high is fast but unforgiving. With the charcoal gone, everything cooks as low (×0.6). Ready skewers go onto a plate that holds 40, where they stop cooking.

Weather works on the coals too. On a rain night the rain slows the coals, so you may want the fire a step higher, and a NEPA power cut leaves the stall lit only by glowing charcoal. A generator is one of the upgrades that gives you back the lights.

Is it a kebab game or a skewer game?

Both. Suya is often compared to a kebab: thin meat threaded on a stick and grilled over charcoal. In this skewer game you never cut or thread the meat; you grill it, turn it, season it with yaji and wrap it for the customer, across nine meats: beef, chicken, liver, gizzard, kidney, ram, beef cut, fish, shrimp.

How suya differs from a shish kebab, in the cut, the spice and the way it is served, is told on the page about the food.

Is it a food stall tycoon game?

Partly. It is an action game on the grill and a food stall tycoon game between nights: you earn naira, spend it on upgrades and stock, and open new places as your total earnings grow. The stall also earns a bigger name, which makes orders larger.

Places unlock by total earned: Surulere at ₦30,000, Ikeja at ₦80,000, Lekki at ₦200,000, Victoria Island at ₦500,000. You start in Agege, where the stall costs ₦800 a night, and the top place, Victoria Island, costs ₦6,300 but sells suya for 1.18× the price.

Your stall climbs through four names: Roadside Starter, Mai Suya, Oga Suya, Suya Don. Each bigger name makes every customer's order grow.

The Upgrades tab: seven tracks, each with its level and the next price
Between nights, the takings buy upgrades.
The Place tab: the five places with their stall fees, the locked ones greyed
New places open as your total takings grow.

Frequently asked questions

Is the suya game free?

Yes. The only money in it is game naira: a new stall starts with ₦5,000 of it for the first morning's meat and charcoal, and every naira after that comes from the grill.

Do I need to sign up to play?

No. There is no form to fill in: the first night opens on the grill, and a small bubble points at the next thing to tap for your first three orders, then goes for good.

Can I play it left-handed?

Yes. Turn on “Left-handed” in Settings and the heat buttons and the meat tray move to the left of the screen, within reach of your left thumb.

Can I turn off the smoke and flashing?

Yes. “Reduce effects” in Settings takes out the flashing, the smoke, the rain and the flying wraps, and the night plays the same without them.

Is it a BBQ game online?

Yes, a street BBQ: every skewer cooks over an open charcoal grill on a Lagos roadside, and it plays online in the browser with nothing to install.

Can I play it offline?

No. There is no offline mode, so the game needs a connection to open. Once it is open, your progress is kept in the browser's own storage.

Is there a Nigerian food game online with more than suya?

Yes, in a way. Besides beef and chicken, the menu has five sides and seven drinks, including zobo, chapman and malt, so a night is a whole stall rather than one skewer.
